it looks like the days of free off peak parking are coming to an end.
westminster council is the latest to do so, this is of concern to theatre and cinema owners there that fear losing custom.
liverpool have already introduced them, manchester is planning to follow suit and i would think that soon it will be a universal thing.
not surprising really with councils being cash strapped that they will look at all areas where they can raise revenue.
Westminster was trying to say it wasn't about raising revenue. Ha!!

Years ago Canterbury made its carparks 7 day charging and to park evenings or overnight is £1.

i hope that sunday free parking in dover and deal centres remain, however i suspect that financial pressures will eventually force d.d.c. to take away that freebie.

I have had no indication that evening/overnight/Sunday parking will be charged and I hope it stays that way.
What I do think should happen is that free parking along the seafront overnight by the owners of the motorhomes, should cease and a charge introduced - either £5 or £10 but both toilets should be open and working.
