    I think that the point I was trying to make Colin was that the TOC who where operating the trains had no way of talking to the drivers. It may well be that the tunnel operator could communicate with them but as usual there was no dialogue between them.
    As with the UK rail system it is too fragmented and none of the constituate parts seem to have the will to communicate. If, as you say "but there is a concessionary radio which can be used but not always reliable" then the whole system is unsafe.
