Back in 2003 I had some training with Eurotunnel to act as a chef/waiter sort on the trains for the HGV's (before I began singing).
My training was very thorough with actual visits to the 3rd evacuation/service tunnel and recreations of scenarios in the training building with full-size mock-ups of smoke-filled carriage etc and presure doors, platform etc.
My understanding then was that the Kent rescue services would enter the 3rd tunnel in specially designed narrow vehicles to take passengers speedily away from the scene from the UK side (with the French reaching from theirs) allowing engineers free access to the train tunnels and keeping the passengers away from hazard.
I wonder what could have changed since for I felt very safe and secure in the knoledge that the company had all the bases covered then.
