How sad to hear this morning that an off duty policeman was shot dead last night in essex.
A persLon is on the run, who has been named.
Let's hope they find this guy soon.
Once again with all these police cuts etc it calls into question that the police person's job is a dangerous one, never knowing from day to day whether they will return home.

Yes very sad news indeed. Off duty but trying to help in the community when he saw a difficult situation develop..but shot dead for his trouble. The policeman was only 41.
I heard this quote on the radio this morning and I thought it summed things up re policemen/women..from Essex Chief Constable..
"This dreadful event reminds us all that policing is a mission that ultimately some die for"

Really awful, the suspect is apparently in his mid 60s. Yes PaulB that quote sadly sums it up.

suspect found dead in grave yard a short distance away,police confirmed the identaty of the body is that of the killer.
