That must have been the Battle of Amiens, which started 8 August 1918, involving large numbers of British, Australian, Canadian and French soldiers. It went on to the end of August.
At the outset, the British had 500 tanks, but within days, almost all of these were out of action.
50.000 German soldiers were taken prisoner by 27 August 1918 during the Battle of Amiens, and the allies regained territory that had been lost earlier in the same year.
Just one tip: if nothing comes up under Ernst, may-be the name was Ernest.
