    Of course the protest in itself won't help the environment. We both know that. That's just weak rhetoric.

    You say the travel is unnecessary. Many would disagree. Would you have said the same about the suffragettes or any other national protest that obviously had to travel to meet?

    Taking police away from normal duties? Presumably you'll be in favour of banning football matches or trying for once to enforce the ban on hunting with wild dogs?

    I might be trying to explain colour to a blind man here but this movement is all about changing attitudes. Clearly there are some who understand this, hence the presence of people from all age groups and social classes on the protest. The scientific arguments are over. Only real 'idiots' like Donald Trump continue to insist that global warming has nothing to do with human activity and doesn't pose a threat to future generations. Anything that can be done to show a global recognition of the need to make radical changes should be welcomed.

    Too many on here are part of the problem and not the solution.
