England a very poor show
- 20 November 2013 06:52253042After watching Englands last few matchs I do not think they would win a tea cup let alone a world cup,We do not have the players to win or get in the last 8teams of the world cup we must do alot more work with our younger players to get anywhere in the world of football.

However I have to agree with you Vic & Martin but the only way that will happen is to have more English Managers and English Directors, all the time there are foreigners running the clubs you will have foreign players put first.
What ever happened to the Academies in the top clubs bringing young English players through and into the teams. I can not believe we do not have youngsters who are not good enough to get into Premiership Clubs teams, you just do not see 16 to 18 year olds getting the chance anymore. - 20 November 2013 17:42253115the problem we have has been articulated on this thread and the outside world, fewer and fewer chances are given to our home grown talent. other than the last couple of games i have enjoyed watching england with the youngsters coming through.
the squad we sent to south africa in 2010 were all established "stars" and i doubt they had the real hunger to go with their undoubted ability.
funnily enough i am looking forward to the world cup next summer knowing we have no chance of winning it but hoping that they give of their best and learn from it. - Bob Whysman

There's still too much emphasis on running football clubs as a business and the culture of paying footballers extravagent wages only serves to attract foreign 'stars' to try their luck here.
I watched the 1966 World Cup final on television and believe me, that match was a world away from the recent England mundane performances. Bobby Moore, Nobby Stiles, the Charltons etc.....they played football and welcomed the opportunity of being chosen to represent their country too!Do nothing and nothing happens. - 20 November 2013 22:48253128Nah, you're all wrong.
