    I don't know if the law has now changed but it used to be that once you got one of those letters you could write and tell the TV licensing people that you were withdrawing their implied right of access*, which meant they couldn't step onto your property.

    * if you have a doorbell or letterbox the implication is you are inviting people on to your property to use them.
