We are told to shop around with suppliers but I have found that it is time consuming and doesn't save any money in the long run.

My dual fuel payments £42/month (but then I don't tend to swan around the house in the middle of winter dressed as though I lived on the equator! Fuel poverty? Get down to Oxfam and buy a bloody pullover)

Popped FUEL POVERTY into Google: the condition of being unable to afford to keep one's home adequately heated.
"around 1.4 to 2 million households in England are in fuel poverty"
More than a 'bloody pullover' required, Capt Haddock.

I am always surprised how when you switch that year 1 is cheaper but year 2 is much the same as you were paying before the switch.
Of cause there is no price fixing from the various firms is there!

I had a letter from British gas today saying that they were sorry I was leaving them. I have even thought of leaving British gas so I phoned them I must have been on there for 30 minuets & was told that a company called Utilita said that I wants to change to them,I have never heard of them, British Gas phoned these people who told them that my post code & name,my post code was right but not my name. Now British Gas & the other company are going to make enqiurys & would let me know soon. I have never signed up with,I wonder how they got my address.
