The post you are reporting:
With regard to the cruise-liners not coming into Dover, that has nothing to do with whether we had any bunting up or not, or chairs organised round the market Square, as the cruise-passengers book their day-excursions long before the ships arrives here. They are very heavily sold and make a lot of money for the cruise-companies.
Until some one is paid to support the Town and Business, it won't change; there needs to be a central person to do these things and a very necessary "CAN DO" attitude.
Sponsorship from the Town Council and the District and the important stake-holders in Dover, need to realise that membership alone of a "body" cannot pay that persons salary.
Dover will move forward when this is done, until then, nothing will change.
I have been working for businesses off and on, unpaid and paid for around 5 or 6 years and I know what needs to be done.
Dover Loyalty Scheme, Discover Dover, Dover Chamber of Commerce and now Channel Chamber of Commerce - some paid, some not, but they all failed (apart from the Channel Chamber job) because there was insufficient (or no) support.
Dover can move forward, but not until the right person is in the right job and it's a paid one.
