  Ok Sheila- another eye witness account! In that case it would appear that we have cast iron supports with just slats on the seat. Historical accuracy is certainly bringing the price down all the time! I think it safe to say what existed in the late forties was present when the shelter was originally built- unless of course anyone has anything to add. The photo above from Paul would appear to have the original cast supports. Do they still exist in storage- a remote possibility perhaps?
