In other parts of the country they are moving the fish to rivers with more water. They are stunned and moved to tanks for transport.

Well never heard of this before..well I never! The last time I was through Pencester about a week ago the river looked higher than usual, hardly surprising as we have just had the wettest April in a zillion years.
The River Stour in Canterbury at the weekend was positively fast flowing and swollen..so seems an odd time to do it with river flow up, but Im sure they know what they are about.

I think they do it every (or most) Spring as a measure of water quality - I remember a few years back they found salmon and flounders in there.

I hope this does not mean the river is going to be allowed to end up a trickle or completely dry this summer.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Never heard of electric fishing.
Do recall several large fish swimming against the current where the river goes under the the road near Ladywell car-park opposite the Park Inn, my kids noticed them as I locked the car before going into town.
Maybe they were salmon coming back to spawn, I hope the river will be re-stocked?
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........
