kent county council are making severe cuts due to a reduction in government grants.
the latest victims are children with hearing impairments.
at present taxi fares are paid by the council so that such children can go to the correct school that can help them.
pressure is being put on parents to send their children to mainstream schools where they would end up isolated due to the teachers not being qualified to teach them.

I wonder what 'real-estate' the present Schools stand upon or represent?

not the case here tom, these are mainstream schools but with teachers qualified in helping deaf children.
the children would still have communicators with them but they wouldn't be much use without the right teachers.

in the case of one child that i am aware of ther would be very little quality of life.
he is autistic as well as deaf and dumb, at present he gets specialised teaching and a communicator to help him in class.
