Farewell Eddie Clapson, former press photographer and freelance photographer.
Photograph below was used in the East Kent Mercury in February 1985, after Eddie Clapson had launched himself as a freelance photographer, with a darkroom in Castle Street.
Eddie was a popular colleague of mine on the staff of the Dover Express, from May 1968 until June 1984, when he left to set up in business as a freelance photographer.
He generously lent me the brilliant 6X7 Pentax camera seen in the photograph several times to copy pictures of old Dover.
Kathleen and I treasure the family photographs he took when our son Edwin was born.
