I just read that a local character, well known around Dover in the 70s and 80s,Eddie Austin has passed away aged 72.Anyone whos lived in Dover around the 70s will know of him.He lived in Crabble avenue and was well known with his mobile discos and his pirate radio station,Channel radio which operated on and off for a few years. It was very popular and many local businesses advertised with it,played all the latest music of the day,i can remember listening to it regularly when i was a kid.He later ran a couple of nightclubs, one of them was Tonights in Tontine street,i,m sure theres a few forum members out there who will remember him.Should also mention he also gained a licence to start Neptune radio in Dover which broadcast from Church street in the 90s and later became part of KMFM.
