Thank you for putting up the post. I shall cancel a booking at first opportunity in the morning. Don't want any of my guests becoming unwell. As a widow I rely on restaurants when I have guests as it can be so difficult to entertain , having to dash in and out of the kitchen. Any suggestions for Sunday please? Or is that inappropriate on the forum. But I base my question on the fact those far afield read this forum and they might need the name of a "safe" place where one can eat without any concerns for lack of or limited hygiene.Guest 1735 likes this
- 26 November 2016 17:31321131Pity they don't give reasons for the low marks as we know a lot of times it is down to bad record keeping rather than hygiene. I find it strange that La Scala suddenly gets one star and I wonder if it is anything to do with the owner taking over the Allotment nearby and trusting a member of staff to keep on top of the paperwork.

I also prefer eating-out by recommendations and my or my friends' experience. Don't trust those paper-pushes.
Also, used to look through ratings on popular sources like tripadvosor, yelp, etc. and read through visitors reviews.
P.S.: Former King's Kebab (now Dover Kebab) never had a reputation for a good meal and staff. So for me, it is not a surprise they advise to avoid it. In any case, I don't like fast food, never understood eating in 'snack-bars', prefer tasty home-cooked food and Italian cuisine, good restaurants and old-style pubs.Guest 1713 likes this - 20 December 2016 18:05322510By the way, recently my daughter has shown me new web-service Alltheviews that includes ratings from Michelin, Yelp and Zagat‘s websites, and visitors' opinion about restaurants from tripadvisor, foursquare, facebook and google, sort of all in one. There you can find info about eateries not only in Devon, but around all the UK.
However, there are places that are not very popular and have no reviews, in such cases I try to learn smth about on local forums, people often eat-out, but not always share their opinion, though heartily do this when asked.
In our computer age we can find out info easily and try out a lot of new.Reginald Barrington likes this
