Dutch NS687 arrives at the East Kent Railway‏
- 5 July 2013 08:32236433Good morning all, please note this press release from the East Kent Railway.
It is with great pleasure that we can announce the arrival of ex-steelworks shunter NS687 to the East Kent Railway in readiness for the Diesel Gala on the 27th and 28th July.
The loco is an ex-Dutch class 08, repatriated to the UK and owned by Middlepeak Railways. The company have kindly let the EKR use it for the Diesel Gala and several dates around that time. It was brought down by lorry from Sheerness Docks and arrived on Wednesday afternoon.
The loco will be running on the Diesel Gala and will haul the evening Fish & Chip trains on Saturday 27th July.

This is the first visiting loco we have had at the EKR for over 15 years, so everyone is very excited. The loco is expected to stay for at least one month.

I can't help thinking that if the chevrons were to be painted the other way up the loco would look so much happier.

short cuts when our roads / lanes are marked not suitable ......but EKR can use them any time

5 July 2013 17:49236478re ballast, I know this is not the correct thread but I could not find the right one.
I asked daughter's other half who works for Network Rail about it and he thinks their ballast comes from Doncaster, it is certainly not local.

Thanks for info, we can use old ballast for repairing our rail and this is bigger but we are trying to get smaller guage limestone for our new 7.1/4 inch miniature railway.
