looks like environmental concerns are taking a back seat now with the global financial crisis.
bad news for polar bears.

Yeah but the only snag in their argument is that the polar bear population has increased dramatically over the past fifty or so years.
It reminds me of the story of Bono, you know the musician who preaches about poverty and climate change but uses tax havens in order to pay less tax, when he stood up in front of an audience clicking his fingers every couple of seconds saying every time I click my fingers a child dies.
Some wag in the crowd shouted "Well stop clicking them then".
Anyhow that polar bear needs a good wash.

One would think the global economic recession would curb carbon emissions.
I still say we need electric buses in Dover, could be a first step to introducing them all over Britain.
Philip, it's time you gave us a scientific explanation as to why you believe carbon emissions to not cause climatic change. Come on, you must be able to present a scientifically based argument.
I'm really interested to know

Hmmn, that's a poser Alexander.
It's like me asking to disprove the existence of a God. It's down to you to prove not me. In the meantime I'll give you a few pointers as to why one shouldn't believe in man-made climate change.

There are thousands more but too long to list here. Their names alone should tell you something very suspicious is going on.

i am trying to get my head around "countryfile" being part of an evil insidious plot, i have just been watching today's edition and it seemed to be about chaps that ran over the lakeland fells during heavy rain for "pleasure" and a piece wwith a group of straw chewers discussing the merits of different sheep.

Countryfile is a programme which is as relevant to countryside living as the X-factor is to real music. It's a programme for urban dwellers who occasionally drive down the motorway and see green fields and wonder what on earth goes on. It tends to concentrate on BMX tracks in beautiful locations, organic yoghurt production in the Shetlands and other crucial issues such as white water rafting - how green is it really?
The other thing is that it has an agenda straight from the office of climate change and gravity and paper knitting. It always puts the wind farm angle in a positive way when we all know they don't work and lately they have been particularly scornful of fracking which is one small way the UK can earn some money to get us out of the mire labour, the greens and other creationists have left us in.
Goodness me they even used that old canard about setting fire to tap water to "Highlight the Dangers"...........
Countryfile - A programme targeted at the same demographic as the One show.

i must admit i don green wellies, a barbour jacket and a corduroy cap before sitting down to watch countryfile.
tonight's edition though contained more "eeh bah gum" and "don't know yer born" types than a true urban hunting and fishing type like myself.

Philip, I thought it was a scientific fact that the ozone hole is caused through certain gases being let into the atmosphere, all man-made products.
Do you know what effect this could have on sea temperatures, for example the Gulf Stream? That is where climatic change could bring disaster.

Two very different issues there Alexander.

We've had at least 8 climate changes/global warming periods in the World's history and all before we came along - at least before man's recordable history; the last one caused us to separate from mainland Europe.
I can't imagine we can be held responsible for any of them; it is a long time since the last one, so wouldn't we be expecting another one sometime ?
I can't imagine that without the inclusion of countries like China, Russia, India and the United States in the agreements, what we do in Britain will make much difference - like a spit in the ocean.

# 12..Sorry Howard for the one liner.
In 31 years we have only had to cut our grass to be ready for winter in late October. It is the first time ever we have had to cut it in December because it was so long.Hope that helps.

who will tell russia, india, china and the states to cut emissions?
in the future more of central and south america will be heavily industrialised, so no chance of them helping out.
not good times to be a polar bear.

Nothing to do with NIMBYism at all Reg - realism perhaps but not nimbyism.
I don't know what in my posting, makes you think that.
