Miserable whingeing toady Alan Duncan, remember him, the shadow Leader of the House who complained that the MP's were all living on half rations since they were found out..since the gravy train game was up..was been elbowed out into the career sinking long grass. He has lost his job.
David Cameron has re-assigned him into political outer mongolia, or to put it another way, into a position outside the cabinet. He becomes Pensions Minister. So its a serious demotion for Alan Duncan, who always looks a might strangulated in appearance, almost as if he is wearing a 14 1/2 collar when he clearly should be wearing a 16. But that aside I think its good news for the Conservative image to get Duncan out of the front line. His thinking flew in the face of the Cameron insistence on better cost conscious politics. It took a while though to see him pushed out, perhaps the holiday season played a part in that.
Latest reports on R4 this morning suggests Sir George Young is stepping into the role of Shadow Leader of the House. He is a respected figure by all sides and being older should give the Cameron fronline a bit of much needed gravitas.
