First impressions of St. James as it opened to the public today. A bit on the dull side (weather wise) but here goes:

As you walk into the development the initial impression is one of open space

Few units are presently fitted out whilst Anchor stores NEXT and M&S remain empty shells.
    M&S Unit

Whilst POUNDLAND and THE FOOD WAREHOUSE (Iceland) are more advanced

CINEWORLD has opened its door today and attracting movie-goers with free parking (today only)

with adjacent NANDO's due to open on the 15th and well fitted out

The Block C Units (opposite M&S) are designed in the more pleasing pitched roofs style

Whilst work continues throughout the site with tarmac being laid at the access to Dolphin passage

JLL (parking) are preparing the access barriers with ANPR cameras installed.
Currently vehicular access is via Woolcomber Street only with Russell Street still closed off.

The footpath outside the development along Townwall Street with brick and flint facade is now open.

The original bollards dividing the footpath from the road remain in place at the western end but there are currently none further east from the two service access areas as far as Enterprise Cars. Care is needed along this busy stretch of road that has a 40mph limit with constant heavy traffic flowing to the Docks. Cars and trucks have been observed parking illegally on this footpath.
It is also worth noting that the flint in the walls can be very sharp especially at the east end where the brick wall is lower. Little fingers beware.
