    Public Inquiries to consider the compulsory purchase of land and the stopping up of roads in respect of the Dover Town Investment Zone (St James's area) will be held concurrently in the Council Chamber at Dover District Council's Whitfield offices on Tuesday, 30 September 2014. The Inquiries start at 10am and may last for up to three days.

    The Inquiries are being held before an Inspector, Susan Heywood BSc (Hons) MCD MRTPI, appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and the Secretary of State for Transport.

    The Inspector will hear from both Dover District Council and any objectors. The Inspector does not make a decision, but will recommend a course of action to both Ministers.


    Notes:
    1. Dover District Council has made an Order under section 226(1)(a) of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, which would authorise them to acquire compulsorily land for the purpose(s) of facilitating its development, redevelopment or improvement to secure the provision of a mixed use town centre developing comprising of retail, restaurants and cafes, cinema, car parking and new and altered infrastructure, including highways, public realm, service roads and yards and associated landscaping.
    2. Dover District Council has made an Order under section 247 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 to authorise the stopping up of a length and part width of Russell Street, the whole of St James Street and St James Lane, a western part width of Woolcomber Street (Maison Dieu Road) and the whole of Dolphin Lane at Dover in the District of Dover to enable development as permitted by Dover District Council, under reference DOV/13/00907.
