    Very much a team effort.
The committee includes representatives from the churches,Dover Grammar, the co-operative movement, DTC, River parish and fair trade retaillers and support by sponsorship from the Co-op and Marks and spencer.

    This was our second application.

Our work involves stands at functions, contacting local outlets and support to retailers then advertising the benefits. We also have to liaise with all the other groups in Kent and the Fairtrade federation.

Dover Regatta is a great supporter and it is part of their plans each year to promote it.

canterbury and Thanet are our nearest neighbours with approval and it is a growing movement.

DTC use Fairtrade goods ( principally drinks) so do my office and many others in the town - we will be producing a booklet ( with sponsorship! - so we arent costing the ratepayers very much! ) showing where you can get the products .

eg - just found a cafe without fairtrade so are convincing them to do so - then the group will give them a cert to put in the window and put them in our guide.

The dover outdoor veg market on a saturday often has fairtrade bananas at £1 a large bag!

    thats all!
