I'm so delighted that my tax contributions go towards paying for a PR company to deal with difficult situations.

So, it's dealt with, draw a line under it and remember the code of cobduct of the forum. A number of other Cllrs and Mayors could be mentioned but should not be on this forum. It hardly promotes a positive image when the forum represents an informative platform to all, local and further afield of Dover but mocks those who represent us present or past.

In fairness Anna where does it say it's dealt with and do you not think the total disregard for public opinion mocks not only the people of Dover but the position of Mayor.
The man is a disgrace to the Office of Mayor, his position as a councillor and to the citizens of Dover, the wider public should know our view of the situation, he should have stepped down immediately and the town council is complicit in allowing him to remain in post.

What is "our view" and since when have you spoken for "the people of Dover"?
You don't even have the balls to post under your own name now you've appointed yourself spokesman.
Neil is a hard working man who is doing a great job as Mayor, let him without sin cast the first stone, especially something that happened years ago.

Well I think Neil is more connected to the people of Dover than the shambles running it. He gets my vote.

Just because you don't take an interest in politics doesn't mean that politics won't take an interest in you. PERICLES.

I don't have a problem with whatever the Mayor imbibes but Have a serious problem with some of his interventions. The DTC debate over the DHB demolishing the POW Pier springs immediately to mind -He admitted that he had an interest and should not take part but didn't leave the room and actually spoke more than most on the subject. I have often wondered why the Town Clerk did nothing to stop it or take action afterwards.

It is not her role. She should speak when spoken to or asked to find a legal clause/ ruling. She is an employee, not elected. Those we elected should make decisions. In relation to indiscretions judge not unless you yourself are ready to be judged, seems a good bit of advice. I was sad you didn't accept the invitation BTW.

If an interest is declared and it is financial that person should leave the room in this case it appears the Town Clerk should have intervened. The Chairman of the committee was also at fault.

I'm not a fan of Cllr Rix but this story is just a page filler.
The editor expresses righteous indignation at Cllr Rix for remaining in position as Mayor, then accepts his advertising money for his local scaffold firm. Says it all really!

In reality its about the credibility of the Town.
But I'm in the camp that says the Cllr himself should make that decision.
If a Cllr declares an interest that's fine the officer can only advise the Cllr
no one can be made to leave a meeting
but of course if the don't it brings into question how the council runs

According to this any councillor should withdraw from the decision making process if they have a conflict of interest. Pages 23 and 24 refer.

I fully understand and in my opinion howard this and you are correct, but if it goes pear shaped the Cllr will have to answer for it
