Excuse the rant.... but wondering if anyone else on this forum has had any luck in getting the authorities to pay attention to mid-to-low level drug dealers operating from their homes.
In my case, the guy involved lives on my street and makes 8-12 trips every evening, each trip preceded by texts, stuffing items into his pockets and door compartments within his car. It is extremely obvious to everyone on the street what he's up to and he is known to people for dealing Class A substances. We have filed reports to 'CrimeStoppers' over the past 2 years but this has not yielded any action from the police. To add to the annoyance, he also has a wonderful aftermarket exhaust... a true delight to listen to during the evening!
The individual lives with his kids who will soon be aware of his antics. His landlord isn't interested on the impact this has on the street and the benefit fraud / tax office clearly do not have the motivation to look through his finances. If they did, then they would find that he is topping up his free rent, council tax, school meals, tax credits and whatever else they dish out these days with drug money.

Yes. I trust that you have brought this to the attention of your ward councillor?

Only crimestoppers and benefit fraud hotlines as I prefer to do this anonymously - thanks for the tip though, I will try going through my local councillors and be sure to feedback on whether anything gets done.

In some areas where there is a lot of drug dealing the Police tend to collate information and evidence then do a purge on the houses involved at the same time so that nobody has a chance to tip others off. I know of a few houses in my neck of the woods where it goes on but I doubt it is high level enough for the Police to be bothered with.

Both bodies might have this person under covert surveillance we can but hope.

I wouldn't hold your breath, my experience is that the old bill are a bit useless in that respect!

The Police know they cannot stem the tide and content themselves with small victories, maybe it's time to decriminalise recreational drugs or even legalise them?

Hi Howard
I understand the problem but making drugs legal I feel could create even more problems, allowing legal drug dealing outside schools?

Wouldn't work like that Keith, if legalisation ever happens then only registered pharmacists would be allowed to sell it and only to those with photographic ID probably biometric. At present the Police and Customs are left spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to stem the flow, if it was legal for adults then it would be much easier to apportion resources to school gates and youth clubs.

I think crimestoppers are a waste of time,we have very little Ol Bill to deal with anything anymore, never a better time to be a criminal than now.

We had a problem two doors down from me, I worked with the local ward councillors and KCC Community Warden, as part of the process we got the local Inspector to write to the problem address advising them that their anti-social behaviour was now being monitored by the Police & if it continued the Police would have to intervene; the upshot is that the problem tenant and their friend who were the source of the problem have moved; giving all of us a bit of peace.
We are now taking the same approach with a similar issue further up the road.
