Drop Redoubt rubble clearance
- 7 March 2012 20:38158017A big thanks to Ovendens who did a great job up the Drop Redoubt in the terrible weather removing tonnes of rubbles that our volunteers manhandled around the moats last year
It was quite an awkward job considering the location and they battled with some of our guys for 5 hours today to remove well over 20 tonnes of brick rubble and rubblish that has been left there since the early 1990s when the repointing work was done by EH.
The work will give us a bit more room at the Open Weekend in July when we will have the reenactors in the ditch, but also removes the impromptu 'tools' that are used to damage the fort

are they really the right people to protect our history, i think not? - 7 March 2012 20:49158023Was a bit strange as they spend £1/4 million at the time, but also stuff that has been dumped and thrown over the sides over the years !!
We already have ideas of other work will we do over the coming year and hope to work with Ovenden again in the future
