I'm always going on about how much I love dragonflies when photos appear on Doverforum (I even have a small tattoo of one) anyway, this weekend we stayed at a lovely hotel in Peterborough and yesterday the hotel grounds were full of dragonflies. I have never seen so many, there must have been at least 30 or more. Apart form several small ornamental fountains there was no water so I was surprised there were so many as I always thought they preferred being beside rivers, lakes etc. They were curious and came right up to me sometimes briefly touching me with their wings, it was magical. Here are a few (quickly snapped) photos.
Camoflage dragonfly.
Is it a bird, is it a plane? Nope it's a dragonfly!
