Dovertime film about Dover
- 7 August 2011 21:02119027I went to the meeting last Thursday after not being able to go after breaking my ankles at the Western Heights taking photos for Dovertime.
It is a shame that more people are not involved. The girl in charge Lucy is really inspirational and I am just glad to be involved in something which is so different and never realised how challenging it is to make a 16 minute film. We all know Dover has a lot to offer but so far the film centres around the knitting club. Well I love knitting but there must be other people who can help us in the next few meetings get us to the castle? the sea sports apparently are not intereste(there loss of advertising!) We are not sure whether Kearsney Abbey is interesting enough and need to get us there to film. Also we need to find a drummer with drum kit. I was thinking of Phil Headon's son who played for the Clash?????Phil Headon head of Whitfield School for yonks. It's all about how you fill a day ? from breakfast to bed-time isn't it ?
I'd heard about this Dovertime when I was working at the LSBC building opposite Morrisons when I worked for the Channel Chamber of Commerce and thought I could contact some of the businesses I had been working with to see if they would like to be involved.
Sadly, that ceased early June, so I couldn't follow it up; businesses respond better from an officail email address rather than a personal one, so left it.
Good Luck to Lucy and the others with it though - hope they/you, get more than knitters.

Then the needles - shall I go bamboo, plastic or metal? Should I perhaps use some of my antique ones? Then casting on, should I use the thumb method or not. should I go for a garter stitch border or rib, and if rib double or single?
Plus doing something that uses both hands in coordination helps improve brain function according to Dr Kawashima!
And not only that, half an hour at the needles and I'm out like a light!
- 8 August 2011 10:44119121The film is supposed to be about life in Dover and as I mentioned we are trying to film at the castle etc. They have also filmed at the transport museum besides the knitting club. I think it was put over in the beginning as a day in the life of Dover but is actually moved away from that. It is about a fictional character and the group have come up with the name of Amble Crocklepot. He goes around Dover looking around into what is going on and taking photos.
Amble is filmed taking part in these activities. Unfortunately as Lucy is from London and only comes for the meetings she is unable to organise a great deal and I think the idea was that a large group would be formed to help. There are now only 5 of us including Lucy.
I hoped to film my Belly Dancing Class and we are trying to organize this and also we want to film at the castle, Amble on a boat in the Harbour and Kearsney Abbey unless anyone can think of anything else. We cant do these things without help.

Perhaps the sea-sports centre may have a little boat, failing that, a slightly larger one from a member of the Yacht Club.
