32 million for one bus route…. Mostly put in place to serve the new builds at Gaston and Whitfield.
Yet services were cut to the old parts of town like River and Aycliffe…
I thought it was initially 22 million?

No one in Guston wanted this. A complete waste of money.

You would have thought that while they planned this road closure to lay the bridge, they’d have resurfaced it at the same time. The road surface under that new bridge is so dangerous and has been for a year! But no, too simple….close the road on the busiest weekend, just 3 miles from the port, the six P’s come to mind…….PPPPPP (p*** poor planning, promotes p*** poor performance)

Interesting it lacks support.
Whilst other bus services continue to be cut

Probably a scheme which will be helpful to many is being introduced gradually throughout the U.K. and was introduced into E. Sussex recently:

You can also use your free bus pass on this system.

E. Sussex proposal sounds much more appealing for rural areas. Frankly I wouldn’t contemplate using Fastrack to do a regular shop - definitely bags too cumbersome to lug about on a bus. But I’m not on the route anyway so it’s academic.
This scheme should have been shelved once COVID hit because travel has changed so much. Guston village residents won’t benefit at all but they have suffered all the immense inconvenience of road closures.

A criminal waste of money with £16.1m from a funding programme designed to help stimulate new housing development.
Instead of housing developers being forced through 106 agreements to provide infrastructure, this time the infrastructure is being provided FOR the developers.
Just how stupid is local and national government?

Will be interesting to see if the Fastbuck bus service is cheaper than parking at Dover Priory. Could turn those new builds into a suburbia parking nightmare.

Making a big assumption that there’s any evidence to support that there’s a real need for this connection at all. I think there’s been a hope on the part of those who are pedalling this white elephant that there will be hordes of commuters filling theses buses. I would like to see an evidence base for this wildly expensive scheme
