I find it odd that they announce a move to Folkestone but will not say whereabouts they will be moving to.

Not quite the same Brian - MacArther Glen was given planning permission by DDC, but then not allowed to come here so went to Ashford; the Range weren't coming here at all, as far as I know. The store in Canterbury is very popular.

Who wouldn't allow them to come here Roger?

My understanding David was that the then local Labour MP/Party stopped it. It was before I became a Councillor so don't have the "inside" information.
I believe their stance was that it might damage the Town's businesses. As an aside, it hasn't caused Ashford any damage, in fact some would say that it has increased its draw and helped businesses.

That's very interesting thanks, I assume you're referring to Gwyn Prosser.

if what I have been told in the past is correct the planning committee gave the bums rush to mcarthur glen for reasons roger mentions yet gave the green light to Tesco, work that one out.
don't see how gwyn prosser would have been involved unless he was a councillor at the time.

Just proves both major parties are equally inept, they spend all their point scoring off each other at the expense of local people

Yes that is undoubtedly true, but I'm not in any way suggesting they are/were corrupt, it simply confirms what I've said for years, they're inept.

I understood it was granted Planning Permission Howard. I'll try and find out.
If it was refused, it was refused when Labour were in power and so they would have had the majority of members on the committee.
