As many of you know, I ran the Dover Loyalty Scheme for a couple of years or so a few years back. It was a sucessful scheme but cost me too much money - I wasn't taking any money from it (for myself) and couldn't get any financial support for it.
Monthly full-page adverts were put in the Dover Express, promoting all the members and I was told it was a good way to promote their business; maybe it wasn't as successful for all the business, but you can't please all the people all the time
This is where I built the data-base of email addresses I now use for my Newsletter.
Many Towns and some London Boroughs contacted me about it and were very impressed with it, but couldn't understand why I wasn't able to get any (DDC or DTC) support for it.
I kept the domain name renewed just in case, but now it has come up for renewal again and as things are now, there seems no point in keeping it - does any one want it ?
If you would like to take it over, please do let me know; the deadline time is running out, so please do let me know asap.

Thanks Vic.
I'll leave it over the week-end and if no one thinks it's work keeping, I'll cancel it.

Roger I'm interested to learn more here, you say the scheme was successful and others wanted to copy it, why did it end?

I had a loyalty card but found that there was not one shop that I used in all the time I had it that had signed up to the scheme so it was useless. If I remember correctly when I went to buy a carpet the offer only applied to their rugs but not their carpets.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

the problem with the scheme in my view was the lukewarm reception that retailers gave it.
just as an example i went in to a pet shop that was signed up to get some cat food, they were distinctly huffy about giving the 10% off.
the fact of the matter was that i could have got it cheaper in any of the town's supermarkets anyway.

There were over 60 retailers signed up and they were happy to pay their £3.00 a week. I did hear that some were reluctant to give the discount and I have no answer to that, but some were very happy indeed.
Many retailers started up their own Loyalty Card scheme after I closed it.
David, I closed it down because I could not get any support from any body or organisation to help subsidise the costs of it and as I'm sure you appreciate, running something on your own, you will never be as successful as when you have the support of others.
