Funnily enough Brian last time we had snow here(can't remember when) a large chunk of melting snow fell down next to me exactly in that location and a chunk of masonry was exposed on the pavement. Didn't need a laxative after that.

High winds are to blame, not poor building maintenance then.

Strange that there has been no mention of which building (fire engine outside Age Concern) as it would be nice to know which to avoid.
I seem to remember Eurochicken on the corner lost some render some time ago.

My question too Jan though the picture says stock image, I would hope the area is still cordoned off until a builder has stabilised the render.

Fire and Rescue dismantled and took away the loose stuff.

I know a lot of fireman are part time builders but surely it needs a qualified person to guarantee, if the render is coming loose it was loose before the wind made it fall, how long before the next bit comes loose!

There was no area cordoned off when I walked up the town earlier.

I read elsewhere a couple of fire engines were outside the Age Concern shop.

Thank you Reginald, I am not exactly surprised.
When I volunteered there the whole building was in an awful state with simple patch up jobs done when needed, possibly because (if I remember correctly) it was a repairing lease so the charity spent as little as possible.
I know the landlord spent nothing on the building for the 7 years I was there, I just hope the charity are not responsible for this repair job.

Me too Jan, I spoke briefly to Pam in the shop but she new little of lease agreement, I hope if they are liable someone will donate the scaffolding and I know I could find a builder who would do the work for free.
God forbid any falls and hits somebody, a lawsuit could wipe out the charity!
