I don't often praise DDC, but hats off to them for a superb Dover Youth Conference today at the Duke of York's Military School.
The conference was for Year 8 children (12-13 year olds) from the secondary schools in the district and focussed on the key theme of making informed decisions by considering the consequences that would follow. There were talks from Turning Point, SuperYouAcademy, Oasis, game show style presentations & a hip hop section by Harry Shotta. Sadly Astor College failed to turn up, however DGSG, DGSB, St Edmunds, Dover College, Canterbury Christchurch Academy, Duke of York's, Sandwich Tech & Sir Roger Manwood's did attend & the pupils seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.
The event was supported by EKC, who provided all the audio visual tech support and even live streamed the afternoon session on the DDC facebook page.
Other supporting organisations were KCC, Kent Police, Kent Fire & Rescue & Kent Police & Crime Commissioner.
Well done to all the organisers, lets hope this is the first of many
