I did read the article in the Dover Express but I don't think that it said where it would be held. Market square?

The best place for a street market to start - on the assumption that there'll be a good number of stalls, is in Biggin Street at the top of Pencester Road, working down towards the Market Square.
It's all in my paper on how to bring a successful street-market to Dover - sadly being ignored by the Town Team; no matter, my involvement (what there was) in supporting Dover is now over.

I would be very interested to read your paper about plans for a market mr walkden is it possible to read it here on this forum? Or can it be seen by a link? Please excuse my ignorance and technophobia- just getting used to computers and very new to forum but I'd love to see Dover thrive again

Penny, yes the market will be held in the Market Square, hopefully we'll get enough stalls so that it reaches into Cannon Street. We have bought 12 market stalls for people to rent and the interest we have from existing stallholders is very encouraging. If you give me your email address I'll send you a leaflet with further info.
Roger, we've been over this so many times and I've resisted discussing it with you on the forum; you have sent your plan(s) to numerous people with no response - have you ever stopped to wonder why?

Yes I have David and I know it's not because they are rubbish either. I know I am "Persona Non-Grata" with the Town Team, the Town Council and WCCTA, so I don't expect any response at all, but tghere are many more businesses in Dover than on the Town Team.
Mikhu - if you would like to email me (lindenrog@aol.com), I will be happy to send you all 3 docs.
Kent Tourism, Dover Harbour Board and many, many other businesses, historic sites and attractions, have sent some very good comments and emails of support about them.

Roger, I once proposed to the Town Council a tunnel starting from the end of Folkestone Road roundabout (near Worthington Street) and carrying the traffic under the Town Centre and under London Road, with exits/entries for the side roads.
They replied that the costs involved are beyond the Council's capabilities.
Either way, this would be a good way to regenerate that part of the Town, as it'd keep the zone free of traffic.
It's still something to look at for the future.

alex
the highways agency would have been the people to contact about your scheme although they would also have said that the costs would have been prohibitive.

Perhaps in the future, Howard. The Town Centre won't run away

There is not the money now and probably never will be the money for a scheme like that Alexander. Sometimes you need cars and parking facilities for them and a scheme that will make parking affordable and encourage people into Town (such a scheme is in my Plan of Action for Dover Town).
Yes I know Vic. I need to shut up and move away, so the temptation is not there.
I wonder if Margate would like my docs. ? Perhaps I'll write to them; I don't want a job, but I do know what works and how to do it. Maybe I should move to Thanet - hurrah says the TT.
