  Sadly I think the National politicians have further soured the relationship between the electorate the political and local reps. It is hard not to view all politicians with a jaundiced eye when so many of our elected members in the House stiffed us for so much, and the Lords and Ladies who continue to deny wrongdoing despite several trips to courts high and low and the clear evidence of the facts!!! You and other local reps will reap the backlash of that for some time to come, I fear.
