An excellent Dover business that took some stick yesterday over cancelling trips for safety reasons due to thick fog in the channel.

Why stick? What are the punters going to see in thick fog anyway? By the time they see anything it'll be too late!

We went on the Goodwin Sands trip last week. It was amazing. The boat trip, the sands and the seal watching were all thrilling and the staff superb. We had booked for Monday evening, but that trip was cancelled because of wind. We were offered the trip on Wednesday morning or a refund. We could also have rebooked for later on in the year. The booking confirmation makes it clear trips are weather dependent, which is obvious really. I have been on two of their trips and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I think Dover Sea Safari is one of the things that will help Dover grow the tourist industry beyond passing traffic and the castle.

Yes the Weather does play a very big part in this fog is one of the main dangers with this kind of boat it is of high speed at times that is why some go on it and in fog in the most used part of sea water in the world that trip could not go ahead.
I just hope today it is OK .
We wanted to go to the goodwins sands but that trip is not going till next week nor is the one to see the seals but we will still love the day if it turns out the way planned.
Thank you.
I hope by members of the public reading this post that they will also give it a try at some point.

I quite fancy this trip, but the prices are way out of our range. There are trips to see the seals from Sandwich which are cheaper and slower also allowing more chances to take photos.

I went on the seal trip last year and it was very good. You go slowly along the coast, have a stop of about 20 minutes to watch and photograph the seals and then whizz back to Dover at speed. It is a good choice to please all the family. The Goodwin Sands trip is pricey, but it requires a crew of three which explains the cost.

For what you get I did not think the price was to high.
