Councils to get more of the profits if they back fracking
Ben Wallace, MP for Wyre and Preston North, wants more community benefit
Communities that host successful fracking sites will be given a bigger slice of the proceeds under a plan being considered by the Government.
Ministers are understood to be willing to revisit the "community benefits" on offer after pressure from backbench Tories. The present proposals would allocate to local groups 1 per cent of the revenues from fracking, a method of extracting shale gas, which has been enthusiastically backed by David Cameron and George Osborne, the Chancellor.
