Can't find the original thread but rather impressively they will be running an overnight service this Winter.

Do you think they are a replaced service for the Soup Kitchen?.

Good point Sue, I don't think there would be a need for a soup kitchen for the Winter months now.
The rest of the year is a different issue as the Outreach Centre is only open mornings unless things have changed.

A relief to see there were no rough sleepers, in shop doorways. Or anywhere else, for that matter.
Wonder where they have been whist off too?
Even the long-term ones in Cannon Street have disappeared.
I am pointing this out with hope, because it is bitterly cold out there. No-one should have such hardship in this day and age.
Let's hope it will all be resolved.

The Outreach Centre is going great guns with most of the clients going on to a night shelter spread amongst local churches.

A very detailed report on the success the centre was over the worst months of Winter.

I thought this had already been open for a week, said as much to the bloke behind me when I was queuing at the soup kitchen earlier.

Opens this year on the 1st of December so quite a wait for our rough sleepers.

They only believe in Christianity at Christmas time Howard.
I can never understand why the various churches do not leave their doors open at night all year round for the rough sleepers. They could take turns if need be and could easily lock their valuables away for safe keeping.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

They certainly don't lack funding, in the first half of this financial year they received from the Town Council a general grant of £.10,000 and four separate payments for horticultural work totalling £.2918. 00. Considering they are only open for 3 months in winter it seems rather odd.
