    ROGER;
    The planning dept does have a lot to answer for, although not all the blame should lay with them, you know Roger at times they have hardly helped.

    It's about a feel good factor, and having a planning dept finding reason's why things CAN happen, rather than finding excuses why they cant!!!!!!

    On another post I gave an example on how the planning dept can pass things if they wanted to, heres another example;

    I went to planning a wanted to help start the now over very popular MOTORCROSS PROJECT when the application went in the planning dept was going to refuse it!!!!
    Off I toddled to meet the officer concerned, at Whitfield in his office!!!
    He explained the noise would be to great to houses(nearest house about one and half miles away!!
    So having explained every weekend theres bangor racing run every week, and sure its noisy, we got over that hurdle, then explaining that the project would be run by fully qualified people, taking kids off the street, giving them a certificate at the end, and teaching them to strip a motor bike down, them put it bsack together, and take kids off the street usually a problem to society was a great thng to do.

    Lots of agencies were up for the project, and willing to be part of it.

    After a long and exhausting chat the officer finally agreed to give it a 3 year start renewable.

    From that day on the project has never looked back getting the kids to build the track themselves, now some years later looks great.

    classroom facilities to teach the kids about bikes before they go anywhere near the track.

    But my point is, none of this would have happened had I not bothered to challenge this planning officer!!!
