The rubbish that they think is news worthy .Three pages devoted to the rubbish in and around Dover .These people who go round taking pictures do nothing to help the image of the town. Why not quietly go to DDC and ask for it to be cleaned up .If you think three pages of rubbish will educate the people or the seagulls who tear open the sacks then you are deluded.
I’m sure if the reporters went out into the community they would find better things to fill up the space .How about Flower shows our River show never received a mention .
Cllr Collor had good coverage. Re Brexit

The Mercury has one reporter covering Dover and the Express hasn't had anyone for about two years. Both journals rely heavily on social media to provide them with something to put in their newspapers, sometimes they credit the website but not always. The Pencester punch up thread is an example of the latter where they copied quotes and gave the impression they had spoken to witnesses.

How utterly sad. Here you are moaning about a couple who give so much of their free time to clean this debris strewn place up. I went out and bought the paper to read what was reported. You certainly are very selective Sue in who you criticise. There is another gent who says things much on par with what that couple said & do but that is ok? I also need to say I checked out the page they set up. It very clearly states they report everything that is mentioned and expect others who join the page to do likewise. Have either of you reported mess? Have you picked any up? The gent picks 10 bags of litter/ week. I would say that saves a lot of pollution in this town. Also saves those who are paid to clean up a lot of time to clean other areas. So show some christian feelings and be grateful some people care enough to do something about it. Also, it may have escaped you that they both volunteer as Dour cleaners. Are you ridiculing them all or again just this couple?
The newspaper does cover St Radigun quite frequently so once the ward borders are adjusted your address in River will be included in that I believe. Roll on your next flower show, or was it others who did the work?

River will not be in St Radigunds Ward when the ward boundary changes. My complaint was against the Mercury .i shall not go down the road of what I do or don’t do .I expect a few good news stories . For £1.10. Some years ago. I helped clear the River Dour where it flows through River.
River will join Temple Ewell and Lydden

I'm not aware of the story although I can guess who wrote the letter
I seem to recall a collor guy on here whilst in opposition stating cllrs should come on here and be representative.
As soon as he got into the administration he stopped posting
Surely this isn't the same guy? lol

This year I have had to put in complaints virtually every week about Viola to DCC about them not cleaning up where I live after refuse collection on a Friday. That is the only time our estate was cleaned if either. If not done on a Friday it was left all over the weekend to blow around the estate. They now finally cleaning the estate after probably after numerous complaints over 8/9 months.
This happened so often I copied and pasted my complaint. If it was not cleaned probably till either Monday or Tuesday. So please do not complain about people who are making a point about rubbish in Dover.
In River I have seen a road sweeper. I cannot comment on how many times a week your streets are cleaned. All we did get was someone in a road side cleaning vehicle who sadly hardly ever got out of his vehicle.

Carrying on from the previous post, we do get the occasional mechanical road sweeper (in a road full of parked cars) that comes about an hour before the binmen.
Logic definitely does not prevail with the person who organises their schedule.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Used to happen like that in my neck of the woods but nowadays we seem to get a fairly regular visit from someone with a litter picker who does a good job. The only problem seems to be with communications at Veolia, a tied up bag of litter is left on a street corner to be collected by a vehicle that doesn't always turn up and the local wildlife have the chance to undo all the work.

All I did was keep putting in complaint after complaint.. with the backing of my local councillor who was on the case as well. He phone me up the Friday to see if they had been round. So even thou DCC are slow, complaining enough does work.. eventually.

Gary
Of course this is good
Everyone deserves a road sweeper if only once a week
We haven't had one since 1999
They believe the town deserves 3 sweeps
And my area none at all
We all pay council tax for this service
Year on year we are getting less and less services from councils yet paying more and more
And like I say some not getting a service at all
I have suggested for many years to alternate at least Rd sweepers but still waiting
