Dover Marina Hotel

  I am told that the Dover Marina Hotel (previously The Churchill - Best Western) has had to delay its opening to 10th Feb 2011 due to refurbishment problems. The new owners were hoping to have at least forty rooms ready for the Christmas period but have been beset with major maintenance and refitting work which will take longer than expected.
  
  Looking forward to the Grand Opening next year

  not surprised about that barry, i thought they were being a bit optimistic considering that the interior was in a serious state of neglect.

  I had heard from someone that despite the suposed revamps before it hasn't been touched properly since it first became a hotel... probably 50 layers of paint to remove !!

  i heard that the original electrical and plumbing works were state of the art when they were first installed.
  
  unfortunately the romans have left some time ago now.

  That's a shame. Presumably they'll still have to pay the new GM too for 4 months - give them time to get the marketing and staff training all sorted out too.
  
  I understand the building is owned by DHB, so they won't have done anything to upgrade it, leaving it to the tenants to pay for any refurbs/upgrades. The previous tenant didn't do anything major (to my knowledge) in all the years I've been in Dover (1994).
