Dover Lifeboat(RNLI) Dates

Open Day ..............3rd August
Curry Night @ Lifeboat station ...............14th September
Money raised from last nights event, held by Phoenix Dolphins sea angling, is hovering at around £1,000, the final figure wont be known until after another Sponsor event the members are doing in October, But i can say last night went well, the entertainment was great, no hitches during the evening thank god, and judging by what food was left, that went well also, a big thanks to those who attended,and those that purchased raffle tickets, and helped this event go well and raise a good amount.
And with that, i must be mad as 2014's event is set up already, club booked, bands booked,,,on 26th July 2014, with User Friendly, Elecrtric Monks and Dinosaur lounge already bookedPAUL SWINERD - Keith Sansum1

There was some hellish Government proposal a while back that would have hit the RNLI hard, where it hurts the most. It was proposed to levy a high price for the use of Radio Frequencies, irrespective of the use to which they were put, and this would have/did add an extra strain to the service:I recall being asked to sign a petition at the time.
I assume, though, that common sense prevailed in the end?

I caught a few moments of a TV programme the other day, set in and around Bude in Cornwall, to do with local surfing Life Guards.
It was said that that service was introduced by a New Zealand Diplomat who, on seeing that the sea/wave conditions were similar to his home, was certain that training was necessary. He put together twenty local enthusiasts with some NZ Lifeguards for them to pass on their expertise, and that service is still going strong and doing good work.

With regards to pdsa's fundraising our total now stands at £1,100, but we do, as previously mentioned have a sponsor night coming up on 19th October at the Phoenix Club, The world record for eating hard boiled eggs stands at 6 in 1 minute, now we have 6 guys, who are not going to try and beat that, but are going to see how many they can get down in 2 minutes, and to add fun to the evening, there will be some un boiled eggs thrown in,,,,,,there will be tarrot readings going on also, anyone who wishes to attend are welcome, but beware it might smell a bit dodgey
