 - Thankfully no loss of life it would seem, and all taken back to France which is a result. Let's hope the facilitators receive heavy prison sentences, probably be here though which is a shame. - Audere est facere.

 - In France they would probably be made companions of the Legion d'Honneur for getting rid of a few illegals. However we must not lose sight of the fact that the illegals are the real victims here. Their families in their home countries will have squandered their life savings on this venture. - I'm an optimist. But I'm an optimist who takes my raincoat - Harold Wilson

 - the very fact that the illegals paid a lot of money to some dodgy characters tells us they must have known that what they were doing was illegal.

 - Not necessarily Howard. In the countries whence the illegals come, most issues can be fudged with wasta (who you know) or bakhsheesh (a few quid in the palm, Guv). In those cultures such processes are regarded as normal. Just what you have to do to get on in life against corrupt officialdom. They don't know that the UK is any different, they just know that people who successfully reach England send home unimaginable wealth to improve the lot of their families. - I'm an optimist.
