I've spent quite a bit of time in the museum and library over the last few weeks while we were setting up the new Bronze Age exhibition (which is a must see by the way). The staff in both are great people and doing their best but....I'm sorry to say all the above posts are spot on. The whole area around the Market Square and the library itself (but not, thankfully, the museum) seems to have become THE place to be for the town's drunks, druggies and low lifes. Forget about "when i passed by around 30mins later they was still there" Andy. I went into the museum one morning, noticing a tramp sitting on the library steps as I did so, and when I came out again that afternoon after a hard day of positioning small gold objects very carefully

, he was still there in exactly the same position. He may have moved in the meantime, but it didn't look like it.
If anyone from the council or the police is looking in, PLEASE do something about this. It is really damaging for the town's already battered image, and makes the rest of us wish we lived somewhere else, which is a pity because Dover could be a really great place to live.
