Not wishing to turn this into a discussion about pollution, or a dirty air contest, but it appears that emissions from ferries and other shipping causes all sorts of pollution, so Aycliffe suffers doubly with the huge number of lorries driving past all day and night, half of which are going uphill so kicking out loads of extra pollutants due to unburnt fuel. The area near Archers Court (yes, I live in the past) suffers from an increasing number of cars using Melbourne Avenue, and at school start and kick out the air up there must be of very low quality too. There is no simple solution to this, because even if you stopped motor vehicles from travelling all the way along Melbourne Avenue, the air pollution would move to the 'village' of whitfield, and the residents would have none of it so Melbourne would be opened up again.
Sorry Amberleaf and Brian, you'll just have to keep coughing.
