A bright, clear day with a rather chilly easterly wind up on 'the heights' this afternoon afforded the opportunity to catch up on progress at the Western Docks development (DWDR).

Firstly the wide panoramic overview with both of the Cargo Berth's mobile cranes (centre picture) now fully in place on the quayside beside the RCT ('Banana Shed')

The RCT now bears a name "CARGO TERMINAL"
Spot the two workers on the shed (sorry 'Terminal') roof.

Work on surfacing the area around the new lock is in evidence with tarmac now laid on either sides of the bascule bridge as well as the road leading up to the new pier entrance. The bridge has also developed a couple of skyward facing points.

The pier lights were on last night with shimmering reflections in the water below. There is a possibility that the pier will be open in a couple of weeks or so, as well as the road across the lock/bascule bridge. We wait to hear more on this. It will certainly help with access once again restored via Union Street if that turns out to be correct.
