The post you are reporting:
I run a football club forum and have found since facebook groups came along most people tend to switch over to them, they have their down points though, for example you can't find old topics as easy as you can on a forum,
Ive set up facebook and twitter pages for my forum so that when people post on the forum, it posts the topic title on facebook and twitter automatically via "Dvlr.it". It gets the forum more page views and encourages members to join the forum. The page views help search ranks too.
I dont delete posts that go off topic, I split them, a clear topic title helps a lot, if you start deleting content some members wont bother to post, but if you just split it and put a moderator note explaining it was going off topic you keep everyone happy,
(I'm not moaning or telling anyone what to do, just throwing ideas out there as I know how difficult / time consuming running a forum and having to moderate the content can be.
