Whether or not your a footy fan it's rather sad to hear that
Dover FC lost its appeal to the FA for not for filling it's fixtures this season .
The FA were obviously not aware we have just come through a pandemic.
Dover had no crowds and so no revenue and so by the rules of the league could not operate if it was in debt .
The league decided to fine Dover £40,000 and deduct 12 points from the start of next season .
Of course Dover can't afford to keep making legal challenges but the club (and other clubs ) should take into account some of the FAs findings...
The club is s company and the FA in its findings wanted the chairman to produce his personal business accounts
Very worrying for anyone wanting to involve themselves in the future of football clubs ....
So Dover will start next season minus 12 points and the big fine and on a 50% reduction budget and part time
So it will really be uphill for them unlikely to hold on to there national League status .
It is a sad day for non league football , where the Dover chairman's made it clear they would have gone under and he made the decision to save the club ....

The FA has essentially stuck two fingers up at grassroots football today. It's appalling. Have to say Jim's response was first class; dignified, calm and determined. Absolutely spot on.
We can really use this deep sense of injustice to fire what might just turn out to be our best season ever. Imagine, just imagine if we actually manage to stay up against all the odds. Our greatest ever achievement? I'd say so. Everyone needs to support the club now - and I for one cannot wait for the season to start! With well over a year of no football, I reckon a good number more will feel the same!

So the FA's response is kick a man or in this case a minor team when it is down and already struggling on the floor.
Let us be honest and say the FA could not care less about the lower league football teams only those at the top where the money and dubious glory as well as media publicity are deemed more important.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

It's rather sad Jan when you look at grass roots football .
The premier League dominates football and the FA are terrified of them breaking away
Because of all the millions involved .
In past years because of this in the FA cup which is the one money spinner for clubs like Dover , the FA reduced the winnings in the qualifying rounds and gave more in later rounds which would benefit premier clubs .
The decision goes against even the FA s rules .
Saying the chairman of Dover should have used his own money to pay all the bills for the decision isn't one that's usually asked and that he should have produced his personal accounts
Why should he .
It's a bad day for non league footy

To me, it seemed like the season only ever commenced as the league were terrified of legal action from the big boys, principally Notts County and Stockport County. In essence, clubs like Dover, Altrincham, Wealdstone etc were asked to risk bankruptcy for the benefit of the big clubs. Dover refused, rightly. Given this, it is mildly amusing that tin pot Sutton United got promoted and both Notts and Stockport remain with us

It's going to be uphill for Dover this season
12 point deduction
Going back to part time
And the chairman cutting the budget by half
I think relegation looms
