    DCR Press Release Below:

Dover Community Radio at Dover Film Festival

Dover Community Radio are inviting all potential new members and those interested to the Dover Film Festival next week at Dover's Town Hall as we are having a stall there. Visitors to the event will be able to find out more about the project and join our new membership scheme with rates starting at £10. There will be the chance to talk to those involved with the project, find out how the studio build is progressing and also hear some of the work of the DCR team with a 'play out' system showcasing how we wish our station to sound. Members who sign up next week will have the opportunity to present shows on the station when we go on air and create features for the station in the local area. They will also have access to the DCR forum.
Our teams shall be present at the film festival from 7pm on Monday 14th February and 2pm on Tuesday 15th February until close of the festival. Reporters from DCR will also be covering the event and recording pieces which will be available on our website.

In the last few months the team have recorded interested and varied interviews with the Bishop of Dover, Vivid Nation a local band from Canterbury, the Christmas Extravaganza in Dover and exclusive interviews with Vista Leisure and Kieran Gaffney. These features can be downloaded from our website for listeners to enjoy. Our latest feature on the Crabble Corn Mill Acoustic Night in January is now available to listen to.

The online radio station is due to launch in mid-March and DCR have teamed up with a local internet forum to launch the streaming service. This already shows collaboration between two local community organisations in bringing the station to air. The station aims to have a wide variety of music from the 1950s to present with specialist programmes in the evenings and weekends. We request that local musicians make contact with us to promote their music as we aim to have as much emphasis on local musicians as well known ones. Coverage of local events, news stories, interviews and a wide variety of features plus local sport will be broadcast on the station.

We are particularly keen to hear what the local community wish to hear on their community online radio station and would welcome any feedback. Anyone in the local area is invited to become involved and we would particularly be interested in students becoming involved so they can be trained in various media techniques.

More information can be found at our website: www.dcrfm.co.uk or by visiting us at the Dover Film Festival".

    Thanks

    Terry
