- 16 October 2010 09:0975185Last night at St Mary`s parish centre saw 16 community groups, after some financial funding for their various small community projects. Each group was allowed 3 minute`s in front of the audience to say what their particular group was doing, and why they needed the money, and at the same time, win the support of those attending last night, as not all the projects would be successful. After all the presentation`s, the voting took place, followed by the result`s and councillor Nigel Collor presenting the cheque`s to the successful one`s. A very interesting evening for me of course, all totally new. Nice to see Vic again and also Andy Cooper and wife Michelle who were representing the London Road Community Forum, `Empty Shop Project`.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered. - 16 October 2010 09:1975186Nigel Collor presents Andy Cooper with a novelty `cheque`towards the LRCF project, (Jeanette was pleased). It was also nice to see the various children`s projects, together with the learning difficulty group`s also winning through. All the successful applicant`s last night deserved the money I thought.

16 October 2010 11:3675203It' a great Idea, but like all schemes it has flaws.
A good scheme because people are busy working cant attend and therefore cant give a presentation, and another scheme may not be as good and turn up give a presentation and run away with the dosh.

Congratulations also to London Road Community Forum, I saw Andy afterwards and was glad to hear of the news.
We (Dover Community Radio) were surprisingly successful obtaining a grant from the Local Schemes Funding - we would like to thank everyone who came along and supported us and the other groups.
As far as I know, Keith the Clarendon and Westbury Community Forum did not receive funding for the bit they were in with us, I am not to sure whether they received it from the SCCP funding part - I hope they did. I did not see the Priory Group down there when we were there, hopefully someone can clarify. - 16 October 2010 13:3075207
DCR's Chairman Albert Thorp, membership secretary Tom Crawley and some of our younger members Marc and David Thorp receiving the 'cheque' from Nigel Collor to develop media training and a community radio service in Dover.
