Well - who would have thought such a positive idea aimed at bringing the community together could stir up such a vipers nest of views and comments?

As someone who was there and has also done lots of research around how to make volunteer community bodies work and fund them etc. I would make the following observations.

    a) this will be a formally constituted community organisation
    b) it will be independent of both councils but will and has welcomed the involvement of councillors
    c) there have been extensive discussions with DDC regarding leasing the land and these I believe are well advanced
    d) whatever the final shape of the arrangements it will need to accommodate the use of the site by the other community organisations that currently use it periodically
    e) the whole point is that this will be something built by the community for the community and will be maintained by the community

Brian whilst I will defend your right to say what you want I think your sort of defeatist mentality and words is exactly what has allowed the "day drinkers", junkies and other assorted n'er-do-wells to take over not only our town centre and open space but many others in Britain.

It is about time the decent, honourable, hard working, law abiding citizens of Dover reclaimed their town from these people - because frankly enough is enough
